The eye care team takes over the practice of Dr. Gimness…
When Dr. William Gimness chose to retire in 2018, it meant the end of Chewelah Vision Clinic and a practice that had been in Chewelah since 1978.
However, into that void entered Dr. Daniel Evans, owner of the eye care team in Spokane since 2016 and a practicing optometrist in Lewiston, Idaho for the previous ten years.
Evans realized the openness for eye care needs in Chewelah and made the decision to take up the practice after seeing the area and loving it. He purchased the Chewelah Vision Clinic building and opened an eye care team in Chewelah at 306 N. Park St.
The practice, which Evans shares duties with Dr Aarick Carlson, began seeing patients on September 25 and has already seen a fair amount of business from the Gimness practice as well as new clients.
If you haven’t been there since it became the eye care team, you will also notice that there have been some renovations. Evans said he and his wife had done work on the building as much as they could, with the current project being the counters.
Nevertheless, the team hopes to bring you the same experience as the Gimness practice, while offering some new options in wearing glasses such as Ray Bans and Oakley frames.
The eye care team, Evans said, is ready to meet all primary eye care needs, including routine eye exams, diabetes care, macular degeneration, glaucoma, cattracts, dry eye and Lasik eye surgery consultations. Evans said they don’t perform eye surgery and offer referrals if needed.
Evans also noted that the company takes the majority of all insurance.
The eye care team is open Tuesday to Friday, from 9:00 a.m. every day until 5:00 p.m. every day except Friday, when it closes at 12:00 p.m.
Dr. Carlson and Dr. Evans alternate days at the eye center, with Carlson taking Tuesday through Thursday and Evans being there some Thursday afternoons and Fridays.
Evans is happy to be in their new location, adding that they love the place and really enjoy the city.
