After nearly fifty years of serving the Owensboro community, Advantage Eye Care is venturing into KY 54 to add a second location in Whitesville. Husband and wife optometrist duo Tricia and Murray Adams are thrilled to bring the same level of quality eye care to the eastern part of Daviess County.

Tricia’s father, Andrew, opened the establishment in 1973, eventually selling the operation to her and Murray in the early 2000s. Nationalized in 2018, Murray traces his roots to small town rural Canada, much like Whitesville, and met Tricia while the two were on rotation in New York.

After battling supply chain issues and the additional challenges posed by the pandemic, they opened the Whitesville clinic on February 24. They proudly serve all ages and meet both visual and medical needs.

“Whitesville perfectly represents Americana and that hometown feeling. The people here make you feel comfortable and we’re thrilled to be a part of that atmosphere,” Murray said. “We are open Tuesday through Thursday with aspirations to expand those days based on community needs.”

With a busy practice and dwindling availability, the Adams were looking for better ways to serve the community. They began researching their clientele and noticed that a large population came from the Whitesville, Knottsille and Fordsville areas.

They started the search more than two years ago, and when the former BB&T bank opened its doors, they decided to seize the opportunity. Tricia said she wants to replicate the same level of care and cutting-edge technology that patients have grown accustomed to in Owensboro at their facility in Whitesville.

“We’re definitely a family environment with several long-time staff members, many of whom started with my dad,” Tricia said. “We pride ourselves on having a fun environment and caring for the community.”

They celebrated the new location with a groundbreaking ceremony and open house on Saturday. Mayor Patsy Mayfield and the Whitesville City Council were in attendance, along with several community members.

Advantage Eye Care is a full-service clinic with a medical model and optics for all your vision needs. They also have an integrated pediatric practice with a developmental optometrist who primarily sees children for various developmental issues.

Doctors Blake Hayden and Jaki Richter are also on staff and play a central role in the clinic’s success.
